Walks from The Coach House Holiday Accommodation

Middleton By Youlgrave – Sites of Meaning/local walks 

You can find the map of these walks in a leaflet in the Coach House, or you can download maps and direction from www.sitesofmeaning.org.uk website. There are 4 walks and one cycle route. 

These walks were a millennium project, it was started in 1999 and was completed in 2006, It involved over 200 people from residents to local schools and colleges, as well as regional and national artists. It shows 17 entrances to the parish, with a boundary stone and text from members of the parish. 

The first stone is at the village green in the middle of Middleton by Youlgrave and the walks take you on a journey around Middleton and Smerril using public lanes and footpaths.

The walks vary in length: 

Circular Walk 1 - 4 sites of meaning - 1.94Kms/30mins 

Circular Walk 2 - 7 sites of meaning - 4.26kms/1hr 

Circular Walk 3 - 12 sites of meaning - 18kms 

Circular Cycle or Walk  - 17 sites of meaning - 23kms walk 5-6hrs, cycle 2-3hr 

Circular Walk 4 - 17 sites of meaning - 25kms approx 5hrs
