Visit the Sublimely Beautiful Chatsworth House
Chatsworth is a stately home in the Derbyshire Dales, 3.5 Miles from Bakewell and 9 miles from Chesterfield. It is the seat of Duke of Devonshire, and it has belonged to the Cavendish family since 1549, this is 16 generations over five centuries. The House opens over 25 rooms for the public to explore and it holds a major collection of art spanning over 4000yrs. The collection included painting, drawing, and sculptures.
The gardens are over 105 acres, they have been gardened for nearly 500 yrs. They include water works, fountains, sculptures, green houses, a maze, a Victorian rock garden and much more. Park Estate is over 1000 acres along the banks of the River Derwent and was designed by Lancelot Brown in 1760s. The park land has sheep, and deer grazing it, and there many walks around the estate.
Entertainment for the children is the Farmyard and the Playground. The Farmyard was opened in 1973 and it has a breeding programme to promote rare breeds in the United Kingdom. The children get to see different breeds of pigs, chickens, horses, goats etc. They can also handle rabbits and guinea pigs. The Playground contains a rope park, zip line, water, and sand play.
There are loads of entertainment and activities on at Chatsworth, depending on the time of the year and I would advise checking out their website: (www.chatsworth.org)
